How it all began…

If you know us (even a little bit) you’ll know that we’re fiercely competitive. When it came down to talking about what we were going to do for our 30th birthdays, well it got a little out of hand. Aided by a couple (ahem) of drams, we came up with the idea of sharing 30 drams for our 30th birthday. We would each source 15 bottles of whisky, distilled in 1989. Great idea! What about making those drams all come from our birth year; 1989? Brilliant! Let’s bring them all to Islay and have a party? YES! Maybe we could bottle a cask from 1989 and drink that too? Stop it, this is getting very expensive…

What Jess didn’t realise (until it was too late) was that Chris already had his 15 drams stashed away and that getting hold of her allocation was going to be hard work to complete in a year. Chris even generously offered to sell her some bottles, with just a small profit to what he had paid for them…. That’s true friendship right there! She turned him down, unable to imagine how unbearable he would be that he had “helped her get the bottles”. No, not competitive at all.

Battle lines have been drawn, the drams have been selected. Let the countdown to December begin!
