We had hoped to have dinner organised by the distillery, however it hasn’t been possible to organise this due to a lack of caterers on the island this week!

So we’re arranging a warehouse tasting with David Turner and the chance to try some special treats from the distillery as well as opening a big bottle from last year’s Feis Ile, which is the 1989 bottle we queued for!

We’re going to do the Warehouse Maturation tour -

Starting off with New Make Spirit, then 3yo, 7yo, 12yo and 18yo, all matured in the same style casks (sherry). We’ll explore each dram and taste the different impacts the wood of the cask has on the development of flavours and depths of the New Make spirit as it becomes whisky. This tasting includes a 20cl fill-your-own bottle from one of the casks on the tasting – this bottle is only available to participants on this experience.

I’m sure there will also be plenty of time to then explore the shop drams and open a 1989 or two on the pier!

The tour is £70 per person

Sometimes you need to take a break from all that whisky - it’s ok we know that sounds crazy! But #project1989 is a marathon not a sprint. We’re taking an afternoon break to have a Fika but in a more traditional sense!

Come and chill out, admire the views or if you want you could even play a round. We’re tempted by the spa - even if it’s difficult to eat a scone in the sauna!

Welcome to Crippe’s mystery tour of Bruichladdich! He’s being very secretive about it all we know is that you’re to turn up at 11am and report to the shop!

We’ll be bringing along the Bruichladdich 1989 too, so we can share it in the courtyard on the day.

We are going to be opening the 6 most unusual / pricier whiskies at this tasting and we are looking to raise some money for a good Islay cause. While #project1989 is about having fun with friends, we’d like to give something back to the island we love so much, so we’re hoping that you’ll dig deep and raise a toast to a good cause!

Weather permitting, we were also thinking of a walk down to the Kildalton Cross as well.

We’re very proud to present our friend and all round good guy, Patrik Bruckner. Some of you may know him through SMWS in Sweden, knowledgable local guide of Gothenburg or the legend who bought Jess *that cake * (don’t ask her, she will witter on about it) Rumour has it that he’s pretty nifty with a set of golf clubs too.

We’ve got a few SMWS 1989 bottles to open and then we trust Patrik to choose the rest! The location is still TBC but likely to be Bowmore.

If you were on Islay during the Feis Ile this year, you might have been at our cheese and ice wine party. It’s really as simple as it seems - Jeff very kindly brought some ice wine and Patrik brought some excellent cheeses from Campbeltown.

Well we thought this was an excellent opportunity for people to come together at the start of the week and do it again! We happen to know that Jeff has kindly shepherded some phenomenal Canadian Ice wine to the shores of Islay once more. Well, those wines need some cheeses to accompany them so we’ll see what we can do!

Drinks - beers / wine / gin (there’s probably going to be a few bottles of whisky but the more the merrier!!)

Snacks to accompany cheese - crackers / breadsticks / grapes / apples / whatever it is that you usually have with your cheese
